The Leaf Gate

This post is to show the process of building a custom project.  "The Leaf Gate" was a job we completed in January of 2017 for a customer in Loveland, CO.  The leave design was the customers original sketch, and the overall gate design was from our shop.

Starting with the customers hand sketch, the first step I took for the construction of the gate was to create a CAD model of the design.  Using the measurements taken on site and basing the CAD model as closely as possible to the sketch, I created a frame and design that would work for the opening.  Having a computer model of any fabricated item ensures the design is thought all the way through before actually using any material.

2016 - A (Very) Brief Summary

It's been a while since our last blog post, here is what we've been up to!

The photo below shows a stack of identical railings that we built with a jig.  These guardrail/handrail’s were built to replace the outdated railings found in a Fort Collins, CO hotel.  The stairs that these rails were installed in served as an egress stair shaft in the building.  There were three egress stair shafts in the 9 story building, each one connecting the first floor to the ninth floor.   The railings in the photo are waiting to be degreased, cleaned, and painted.

Curved Patio Railing

Here is a really nice railing we fabricated in our shop.  The patio needed some accents, so we came up with a simple and clean design to fit the space.  Built from rectangular and square steel tube, the railing was finished with a flat black powder coat.

Freestanding cedar Pergola

Freestanding Pergola 1
Just finished a very cool cedar pergola for a home in Fort Collins.  This freestanding rough sawn pergola was built to save the family the hassle of using a "fold-up" temporary cloth unit that you'd typically buy from the store.  Our structures are built to withstand all seasons and last a lifetime.   We are a metal fabrication and woodworking shop in Fort Collins, CO.  Have a projecT?  Give us a call at 970 481 5278.

Metal Sign Fabrication

Here are some shots of a sign we recently completed.  This was built from regular mild steel, the backdrop was powder coated black while the letters were sanded to silver and finished with a clear powder coat.  The sign construction was entirely bolted in order to powder coat all the steel used 360 degrees.  This allows the finish to be applied while the sign is unbolted, giving the powder coat appliers full access to the individual pieces of steel.

Wave Railing fabrication

We recently completed one of our first truly custom projects of 2015, the ‘wave’ handrail.  The owners of the Fort Collins, CO residence worked with us to create this unique design concept which was inspired by their travels to the ancient stone carved city of Petra, where the natural grains of the rock cliff present a flowing, wave like appearance.  The handrails are the first planned updated to the couples home, which will undergo further renovations.  The ‘wave’ handrail project consisted of four individual sections as seen in the photo below.  The stair stringer leading upstairs, the upper hallway section, the dining area surround, and the wall mounted handrail going downstairs to the lower den.
